MapPitchBot
Last updated 2 November 2026
MapPitchBot is the website checker used by MapPitch, a software service run by Xeventure IT Solutions. It identifies itself with this user agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MapPitchBot/1.1; +https://mappitch.com/bot/)
What it does
When a MapPitch user looks up local businesses through the official Google Places API, MapPitchBot visits the website that each business lists on its own Google profile. It reads:
- the homepage and at most three contact or "about" pages, with no more than four pages per site;
- public business contact details shown on those pages (business email, phone, WhatsApp link, social profile links);
- basic website health: whether the site loads, uses HTTPS, works on phones, has a page title and description, links to Google Maps, and offers a contact form or booking option.
It doesn't log in, fill in forms, run JavaScript, download files or follow links to other websites. It doesn't visit Google Maps pages.
How it behaves
- It reads and follows
robots.txt. To block it, add:User-agent: MapPitchBot
Disallow: / - It makes one request at a time per website, waits 2–3 seconds between requests and gives up after 10 seconds.
- A website is checked again at most once every 30 days, unless a user asks for a re-check.
